Leila Sansour is an acclaimed British/Palestinian film maker with an unconventional portfolio. Her latest film Open Bethlehem, which was released in UK cinemas in December 2014, has led to the creation of an international campaign to save the city of Bethlehem against incredible odds. Leila serves as the executive director of Open Bethlehem till the present day.
Leila was born in Moscow to a Palestinian father and a Russian mother but grew up in the West Bank city of Bethlehem. She holds a masters degree in philosophy and has worked in television including Al Jazeera and ITN News. Leila travels extensively to give talks and brief decision makers in Europe and the US. She has written numerous press articles and has given presentations at places like the British parliament, The Royal Institute of Foreign Affairs (UK), The Royal College of Defence, The Carter Centre, Amnesty International, and many universities and churches.
