Tiffany Watt Smith

Tiffany is a cultural historian specialising in the history of emotions. She is author of the forthcoming The Book of Human Emotion (UK: Profile/Wellcome; US: Little, Brown). Her monograph On Flinching: Theatricality and Scientific Looking from Darwin to Shell-Shock was published in 2014. She was selected as a BBC New Generation Thinker 2014-5.

Tiffany was educated at the universities of Cambridge and London, and is currently a British Academy research fellow at The Centre for the History of Emotions at Queen Mary University of London. Before beginning her career in research, she worked as a theatre director, including as International Associate at the Royal Court Theatre.
