Tuppy Owens was brought up in Cambridge and, at 17 went to the Serengeti to join her boyfriend who was studying wildebeest. Developing an interest in Zoology she took a degree in it at Exeter. In her mid twenties, she switched to sex publishing and published the Sex Maniac's Diary for 23 years.
In 1979 she set up Outsiders, a club for socially and physically disabled people to find partners. Over the past 30 years, she has learned how they struggle and she wrote a book in 2015 for health and social work professionals in order to make them aware of the joys of supporting their clients enjoy a social and sexual life. She works relentlessly projects for health care professionals as well as the Outsiders Club, which offers peer support, friendship and dating opportunities in an online Clubhouse and Lunches around the country, and is blossoming all over the world.
